HOPE Clinic

About the project

The Asian American Health Coalition (AAHC) dba "HOPE Clinic" established HOPE Clinic in 2002 as a four-hour-a-month, volunteer-run, non-profit clinic providing culturally and linguistically competent care for Houston’s under-served and isolated Asian communities. In 2012, HOPE Clinic became a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and currently operates four clinics serving residents of all ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. HOPE Clinic’s mission is to provide quality healthcare without prejudice to all people of Greater Houston in a culturally and linguistically competent manner. HOPE Clinic provides health care services to all, regardless of the patients’ ability to pay. In particular, HOPE Clinic serves low-income, uninsured, and underinsured patients, and those with limited English proficiency.

HOPE Clinic is located in Houston, TX.

LISC provided $6.32 million in financing ($1.53 million bridge and $4.80 million mini-permanent loans) to HOPE Clinic to support the development of a 70,000 square foot community health center in the Alief neighborhood of Houston. The new facility will provide primary and specialty care services and is projected to serve over 20,000 unique patients, with over 70,000 visits annually. Once the new campus is fully operational, the HOPE Clinic network aspires to reach over 35,000 patients, with nearly 150,000 patient visits annually. This project will create and retain quality jobs, based on the provision of living wages and benefits, and 60% will be accessible to workers with less than a 2-year college degree. The new facility will expand and improve HOPE’s healthcare services, and support a cafeteria that will provide healthy food in a Food Desert location. HOPE is also a minority-led organization and provides a unique, culturally and linguistically competent patient care experience in one of the most diverse neighborhoods in one of the country’s most diverse cities.
