About the project

Justine PETERSEN (JP) was established in 1997 to serve low-income communities in the St. Louis/eastern Missouri area. Named after St. Louis community development pioneer Justine M. Petersen, JP serves as a micro lender for individuals and small businesses.

JP is based in St. Louis, Missouri.

LISC is providing $500,000 in financing to fund microloans in JP’s pipeline to small businesses impacted by COVID. Small businesses will be able to use LISC-funded loan proceeds for the following purposes: working capital, equipment, inventory, tenant improvements, real estate purchases, and debt refinancing.

"Our mission is demonstrated by our services, which include credit building and financial education, homeownership preparation and retention, and micro-enterprise lending and training."
