Kairos Academies - 4153 Bingham Avenue
About the project
Kairos Academy is a public charter school opened in the Fall of 2019 with a founding 6th grade class. Kairos’ charter gives an enrollment preference for applicants living in and around the Dutchtown neighborhood which have the 1st, 2nd and 4th largest “service gaps” in education in the city of St. Louis. Kairos’ mission is to empower St. Louis students to direct their own lives and learning.
Kairos serves students in the St. Louis Public Schools district.
LISC provided Kairos $500,000 of predevelopment financing to support the renovation of an historic building into a permanent location for up to 910 students. In addition to classroom space, the location will include arts and shop studios, a cafeteria, a kitchen, a theater, a library, an indoor gym and a weight room. This loan was partially funded by a gift from Mackenzie Scott and funds from LISC's CDFI Fund TA award.
