King Commons Apartments
About the project
Partners in Housing (PIH) was established in 1993 to create affordable/supportive housing opportunities for the special needs population (chronic mental illness, persons with AIDS/HIV, persons with drug or alcohol addictions, and the frail elderly). Partners is a founding board member of the Coalition for Homelessness Intervention and Prevention (CHIP), attempting to advance the creation of an orchestrated continuum of housing and services. PIH owns and has developed 12 buildings with over 600 units, including six LIHTC projects, of which four are supportive housing projects.
PIH is headquartered in Indianapolis, IN but its work spans Marion County.
LISC provided a $586,633 acquisition loan to support the development of King Commons Apartments, a 32-unit permanent supportive housing development in the King Commons Great Place neighborhood. The project will provide two bedroom, three bedroom and four bedroom units for persons exiting homelessness, restricted to 50% AMI. The project will have two dedicated on-site case managers and provide supportive services through PIH's partners Hamilton Center. This loan was partially funded through gifts from Mackenzie Scott and the Lilly Endowment.
“We ask tough questions. We take steps to solve the problems we see in our community. We search for the root cause and work tirelessly to come up with a solution. We assume the best in everyone, from our residents and team members to our community leaders. We approach every challenge with enthusiasm and optimism. We envision a future where homelessness is rare and brief.”
