KIPP Adelante Preparatory Academy
About the project
Since 2003, KIPP Adelante Preparatory Academy has been committed to the belief that all students are capable of getting ahead, achieving at high levels, and attaining a college education. They are dedicated to the promise their families and their communities make: students will “seguir adelante” (translation: "continue to progress") in pursuit of their dreams and a choice-filled life.
KIPP Adelante Preparatory Academy is located in San Diego, CA. At the time of closing, 95% of its students qualified for free or reduced-price lunch and 50% of its students were English Language Learners.
LISC provided a $9.16 million loan to construct a new 28,320 square foot facility for KIPP Adelante. The new school will include 22 classrooms, including specialty classrooms for art and music, a cafeteria, teacher collaboration and administrative offices, a dedicated KIPP Through College office and an athletic field. The new building allowed KIPP Adelante to serve an additional 150 new students, be closer to the homes of their existing students, and is accessible by public transportation
