KIPP Cooper Norcross Academy
About the project
KIPP Cooper Norcross Academy is a renaissance school, a new breed of public schools authorized under the Urban Hope Act. Renaissance schools are similar to charter schools but operate under a more advantageous set of rules compared to charter schools, including a higher level of per pupil funding. KIPP Cooper Norcross is committed to instilling in their students the desire and the ability to succeed in college in order to change the world.
KIPP Cooper Norcross is located in Camden, New Jersey. At the time of closing, 98% of its students qualified for free or reduced-price lunch.
LISC and CDT provided permanent takeout financing for their senior construction loan using Bond Guarantee Program proceeds. The proceeds will be used to renovate a former Camden district school building to house their second campus, Whittier Middle School, a 436-student, grade 5-8 middle school.
