About the project
North Shore Community Development Coalition (NSCDC) envisions a North Shore where every neighborhood is one of maximum choice and opportunity. Founded in 2010, NSCDC strives to accomplish its mission through the construction and maintenance of affordable housing, investment into creative placemaking, and planning and advocacy work.
NSCDC is headquartered in Salem, MA. Its projects span the coastal North Shore region of MA.
LISC provided $76,500 in predevelopment financing to assist with the development of NSCDC's The Lighthouses project, which consists of two buildings on Peabody Street and Leavitt Street. The 40 affordable units are divided between the two buildings, with 27 family housing units located at the Peabody Street site, and 13 artist work/live studios at the Leavitt Street site, plus approximately 13,000 square feet of new community service facility space. The community service facility space will be open to service providers who help residents of the community in a variety of ways, including: financial literacy training, ESL, community healthcare, and workforce development training.
