About the project
Barkhamsted Housing Trust, Inc. (BHT) was established in 2019 with the technical assistance of LISC Connecticut. Working with local residents to address affordable housing needs in their communities, BHT provides affordable homeownership and rental opportunities to the Barkhamsted community.

LISC provided BHT with $410,000 in acquisition financing to support the development of the Mallory Brook Farm project, a 20-unit affordable housing project that is located on a former farm in Barkhamsted. Of the 99-acre farm, six acres are being utilized to develop 4 one-bedroom, 12 two-bedroom, and 4 three-bedroom units affordable at 25-80% of AMI. The project is also being developed to a Net Zero energy standard, in which units will be fully powered by the solar energy generated on site, inclusive of electric heat pumps, hot water, and cooking.
