Blue Sky Housing LLC's success story began with Managing Partner Earle ""Chico"" Horton's passion for real estate in 1997. As a young lawyer, Horton learned the mechanics of real estate development and saw its potential for economic value. Blue Sky Housing was established over 20 years ago and has since become a prominent developer of commercial and residential projects. Horton, with over two decades of experience in real estate, law, and finance, also co-founded Tiber Hudson LLC, a law firm specializing in real estate and finance. Through Blue Sky Housing, Horton continues to expand the company's vision and portfolio with innovative projects that build on the past and develop the future.

Evergreen Urban aims to revitalize underutilized real estate assets in urban areas, fostering catalytic impact and positive social and environmental change. As a minority-owned Certified Business Enterprise, they prioritize projects that stabilize neighborhoods and provide affordable housing options. Walter Reed MF Partners, a joint venture by Blue Sky Housing and Evergreen Urban, serves urban communities in Washington, DC with moderate to low median incomes, underserved populations and underutilized real estate assets.

LISC provided Walter Reed MF Partners a $350,000 predevelopment loan to support the redevelopment of Building 12, an historic building on the former Walter Reed campus. When complete, Building 12 will include a True Value-branded hardware store, a coffee shop and office/commercial space on upper floors. The hardware store is expected to create 33 permanent jobs, 66% of which will pay at or above living wages and include a full benefits package.
