PR Mallory Campus Redevelopment

About the project

Englewood Community Development Corporation (ECDC) was formed in 1996 as an outgrowth of Englewood Christian Church, a neighborhood-based faith institution that has been in the same location (directly across from the PR Mallory campus) since 1895. ECDC strives to nurture and embody "love of neighbor" in four focus areas: affordable housing, economic development, quality of life, and literature. The John Boner Neighborhood Centers (JBNC) was founded in 1971 as a multi-service community center serving Indianapolis’ Near Eastside residents.

A total of $6.76 million in bridge loans allowed the ECDC to redevelop the PR Mallory Campus, a vacant 75,000 square foot complex that was once a job center. From this project, two charter schools were able to relocate to a new space, and the urban farming venture Farm 360 was able to expand to continue providing healthy food in this Indianapolis food desert. In addition to providing healthy food options, Farm 360’s expansion brought 30 new jobs to the neighborhood, 70% of which employed low- and moderate-income individuals and neighbors.
