Quincy Place
About the project
Incorporated in the spring of 1992, Fairfax Renaissance Development Corporation (FRDC) is a nonprofit community development corporation whose mission is “strengthen neighborhoods in Northeast Ohio through comprehensive community development." FRDC carries out community revitalization activity through the development of affordable and market rate housing, promotes economic development activity through commercial, retail and institutional initiatives, and acts as a catalyst to spur community visioning through comprehensive master planning. In FRDC’s role of convener it advocates for the residents, small businesses, churches, schools and other stakeholders in the community. In response to planning activities, FRDC develops programs and partnerships to address cultural, educational, financial, health/wellness, housing, recreational, safety, social, sustainability, technology, workforce and youth initiatives. FRDC is committed to building an inclusive community.
FRDC is located in Cleveland, OH.
A $1 million LISC loan enabled FRDC to acquire property located at the intersection of Quincy Avenue and East 82nd Street in Cleveland. FRDC built a four-story office building for Cuyahoga County’s Central-Fairfax Neighborhood Family Service Center to house its offices and a day care center, with FRDC occupying the remainder of the space. The project is intended, among other goals, to bring governmental services directly to the community by placing the Family Service Center offices and day care center in the neighborhood it services. Additionally, it will serve as an anchor for the economic redevelopment of the Quincy Avenue commercial corridor that has suffered the highest levels of disinvestment, provide 75 to 100 temporary construction jobs, and capture the secondary economic benefits of moving 225 to 250 government employees to the area.
