Rebuilding Together of Greater Charlotte Bridge Loan

About the project

Rebuilding Together is a non-profit formed in 1988. Birthed from a small group of neighbors realizing the need for volunteer-based home repairs to houses in their neighborhood. Today, Rebuilding Together has over 120 affiliates across the country. Rebuilding Together of Greater Charlotte (RTGC) opened its doors in 2010 and has grown to a staff of 10, lead by Executive Director Beth Morrison. Since 2019, RTGC has completed 108 projects serving households with an average AMI of 41% over that period.

RTGC serves Greater Charlotte, NC.

LISC provided RTGC a $400,000 bridge loan to cover expenses related to home repairs for low-income homeowners. RTGC repairs are reimbursed by the City and County after completion, but LISC's funds will allow them to more quickly serve more clients, up to 5-10 per month. By providing no- and low-cost home repairs, RTGC allows homeowners to stay in their houses and continue building equity, avoiding displacement when surrounding neighborhoods become more expensive.
