STOP School-Based CVI Approaches: Place Based Strategies – Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED)

This webinar is part of a series for the STOP School Violence Specialized Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) Program. Through this program, LISC is helping schools and community partners understand the foundational elements of community violence intervention approaches and sharing guidance on planning and implementing school-based CVI strategies. This program is funded by the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance.

Overview

While Community Violence Intervention (CVI) approaches often focus on persons closest to violence/victimization, school administrators highlight that violence often occurs regularly in and around specific school campus places/locations. Place-based strategies, such as Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED), can be an important tool for schools to consider as part of a holistic effort to increase school safety and create a more welcoming school environment. This webinar identifies the core concepts of CPTED and how they can be employed in alignment with your CVI focused school safety strategies.
