TEAM Academy Charter School

About the project

KIPP Newark (formerly known as TEAM Academy) is a multi-campus, high-performing charter public school district in Newark, New Jersey. Since 2002, KIPP Newark has been committed to instilling in students the desire and ability to succeed in college, in order to change the world. For the 2021-22 school year, KIPP Newark plans to enroll up to 5,893 students in grades K-12, organized into six elementary schools, six middle schools, and two high schools. At full scale, planned for the 2031-32 school year, KIPP Newark is expected to have added its third high school (for 15 total schools) and to serve a total of 8,584 students in Grades K-12, approximately 11% of Newark’s public school students. Approximately 89% of students qualified for free or reduced-price lunch.

LISC provided a $6.00 million loan for the construction and permanent financing of a permanent school facility for KIPP Newark. The 74,082 square foot facility will accommodate approximately 900 students.
