Unlocking the Potential of Cash Transfer Programs to Tackle Wealth Inequality
Overview
This paper highlights how unconditional cash transfers positively impact the financial health of low- and moderate-income households and recommendations to increase their effectiveness. The insights contained in this document stem from a collaborative effort involving local LISC staff managing the Financial Opportunity Center® (FOC) network, updates from LISC FOC partner agencies, and data collected from community members participating in FOC services over a three-year period. We extend our sincere appreciation and continued gratitude to the coaches and staff of FOC partner agencies and LISC program staff who support the FOC networks in their communities. Their dedication, time, and expertise are invaluable in shaping new strategies and continuously improving existing programs that create and sustain effective pathways to opportunity across the country.
