White Center Community HUB
About the project
White Center Community Development Association (WCCDA) was formed after a two year collaborative planning effort supported by King County and the Annie E Casey Foundation. In 2002 the organization was fully formed and staffed with an executive director. The initial charge was to address issues affecting the quality of life of White Center residents with specific focus on affordable housing and supporting small businesses. The CDA has expanded from a “place” based focus on neighborhood revitalization to include a “people” focused approach with their family development work. At its core, everything the CDA does is rooted in a strong community building philosophy.
WCCDA is solely focused on community development activities in White Center, King County, WA.
LISC provided $3.90 million of construction financing to support the development of the White Center Community HUB, a new one-stop community, health and social service center serving the people of White Center. The project is part of the Rise Together campaign which began in 2016 and is a partnership between 6 Seattle area nonprofits focused on equitable development and support for BIPOC communities. The LEED Silver development will include an FQHC, multiple nonprofits serving the local community and headquarters space for WCCDA. LISC used HFFI funds awarded by the CDFI Fund to support healthy food and nutrition education provided by the tenants.
