Our Stories

Celebrating Black-owned Businesses in August—and the Rest of the Year!

Black-owned businesses face systemic barriers to accessing capital and credit. In honor of Black Business Month, we’re sharing our favorite stories about the entrepreneurs we’ve worked with and who have benefitted from the funding partnerships that help break down the obstacles to progress and success.

August is Black Business Month. We happily celebrate all month long, but in reality LISC celebrates Black-owned businesses 365 days a year, every year.

In collaboration with a range of funding partners, LISC supports small businesses, including Black-owned businesses that have faced systemic barriers to accessing capital and credit. We provide coaching, expertise, and access to grants, loans and growth capital to help entrepreneurs strengthen and expand their businesses, spurring job creation and healthier local economies.

In honor of Black Business Month, we’re sharing our favorite stories about the entrepreneurs we’ve worked with and who have benefitted from the partnerships that help break down the obstacles to progress and success.
