We are grateful for our partners, both new and long-standing, that have joined LISC in Project 10X to address the racial health, wealth, and opportunity gap. These partners represent a broad range of sectors and geographies, all working to advance equity and expand opportunities.
The following collaborations illustrate the variety of the work being supported. A full list of our Project 10X supporters will continue to be updated regularly.
Project 10X Supporter Highlights
Abbott and LISC are collaborating with a $37.5 million initiative to support diverse small businesses and the communities they serve, including growth capital, loans and coaching to help business leaders grow their companies and create jobs, in order to build a more resilient and inclusive healthcare supply chain and help drive broader economic opportunity.
Thanks to $2.45 million in support from The Anthem Foundation, LISC is using innovative strategies to address health disparities in Indianapolis’s communities of color, with a focus on food access and security.
A $5.5 million grant from Amazon is supporting LISC’s Housing Equity Accelerator program (HEA) in Washington, which will increase the supply of affordable housing and support the growth of Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) developers.
Colorado Health Foundation invests $2 million into LISC’s micro equity fund, providing growth capital to BIPOC-owned small businesses in order to unlock their potential to grow, scale, create jobs, and fuel wealth creation.
LISC received a $1.1 million contribution from AT&T to better serve students and families impacted by the digital divide, in particular women of color and their children. Together, we are helping to embed intensive digital coaching and technology resources in community-based organizations nationwide.
Through the Cummins Advocating for Racial Equity (CARE) initiative, Cummins Inc. is addressing racial injustice in the communities where it operates, including Indianapolis, Indiana. LISC is pleased to partner with Cummins and the Indianapolis Black Chamber of Commerce on an $850,000 initiative to provide small business relief grants and forgivable loans to Black entrepreneurs. Our partnership aligns with the goals of Project 10X, as well as Cummins’ commitment to drive a sustainable impact in dismantling institutional racism and creating systemic equity.
Foot Locker, a new LISC partner, is supporting work that aligns youth development with our efforts to close the racial opportunity gap. Foot Locker is making possible a grant program for BIPOC-led community-based nonprofits that serve BIPOC youth and have a mission aligned with community outreach (including health and wellness), mentorship, and career development. The goal is fostering the development, empowerment, and employment of BIPOC youth in underresourced communities.
JPMorgan significantly supports LISC’s equity work in several ways, including 1) $42.5 million in grants and flexible capital to advance the Entrepreneurs of Color Fund to invest in BIPOC-led small businesses in Minneapolis and nine other cities, 2) $1 million to establish the Community Asset Transition (CAT) Fund to preserve local, BIPOC ownership of real estate in cultural districts across the Twin Cities, and 3) $5 million to launch a Diverse Supplier initiative to help BIPOC-owned small businesses access the capital they need to secure corporate contracts.
Kaiser Permanente’s partnership with LISC is expanding opportunities for BIPOC entrepreneurs and families to build wealth, supporting healthy and economically vibrant communities.
LISC and Lenovo are partnering to advance equity and increase economic mobility for BIPOC business owners in Chicago, Austin, Raleigh, Seattle, Phoenix, and Minneapolis. Together, we will support business development organizations in these markets that will provide high-touch, intensive support to BIPOC-owned small business for a year, in addition to offering $10,000 grant to small businesses in six priority markets.
MetLife Foundation’s $2 million investment is supporting a national network of business development organizations (BDOs) that will help advance the long-term recovery strategies of small businesses in disinvested communities. Trusted BDO partners will address the persistent gender and racial gap in capital access by providing technical assistance to businesses owned by women and entrepreneurs of color, to ensure the opportunity to thrive.
Owens Corning, a longtime partner, commits $1 million to create homeownership opportunities and grow the capacity of small minority-and woman-owned contracting businesses in Toledo.
LISC and Peloton partner to support physical and mental well-being of Black individuals living on low or moderate incomes by expanding access to community-centered fitness and wellness resources.
LISC is teaming up with Uber, PayPal, and Walgreens to create the Vaccine Access Fund, providing free rides to vaccine sites for people in areas hard hit by the pandemic, with a focus on Black, Latinx, and low-income communities.
A two-year, $2 million grant, one of the first from Walmart’s Center for Racial Equity, furthers LISC’s 10X work in Chicago, helping expand access to financial systems for minority business owners, strengthen diverse talent pipelines, reduce health disparities, and prepare people to re-enter the workforce.
A $20 million donation from Wells Fargo’s Open for Business Fund launches the new Asset Building for Communities of Color (ABC) Program, helping diverse small business owners in Los Angeles unlock their potential to grow, scale, create jobs, and fuel wealth creation by acquiring assets such as property and equipment.
