About the project
Fruit of Barren Trees, LLC (FOBT) was founded by Rebecca Johnson in 2019. Ms. Johnson grew up in the Durkeeville neighborhood of Jacksonville and returned in 2019 with the intention of utilizing her knowledge of the community, her relationships, and her professional experience to assist in the revitalization of the Durkeeville and New Town community.
FOBT is headquartered in Jacksonville, FL and focuses on the New Town and Durkeeville neighborhoods.
LISC provided $580,000 in financing to support the rehabilitation of two properties in Jacksonville, FL. The first property is a commercial building that will be renovated to include four office suites that will support small businesses and two two-bedroom apartments. The second building is a single-family home that will be brought up to current living standards, including a new roof and energy efficient windows. All three housing units will be available to households making no more than 80% of area median income.
