Kids in the Spotlight Office & Studio
About the project
Kids in the Spotlight (KITS) helps Los Angeles foster youth heal and grow from trauma through the powers of storytelling and filmmaking. Since 2009, KITS has created over 85 films with more than 940 youth impacted by foster care, where they are given full agency to tell their stories, their way, by writing, casting and starring in their own short films.
KITS serves southern California with a focus on foster youth in the Los Angeles area.
LISC provided KITS with a $1.93 million loan to acquire their office and studio space in Van Nuys, CA. The loan supports the long-term stability of the organization through rent replacement strategy and allows them to focus on providing workforce training and social services to youth in and transitioning out of foster care.
