Lorena Plaza

About the project

A Community of Friends (ACOF) was established in 1988 with the mission of ending homelessness through the provision of high-quality permanent supportive housing for people with mental illness. ACOF believes that access to an affordable residence is only one part of the solution, and sponsors onsite supportive services including life skills classes and substance abuse recovery assistance in order to ensure that tenants remain stably housed.

ACOF is headquartered in Los Angeles, CA, and operates properties across California.

LISC provided ACOF with $500,000 in predevelopment financing to support their Lorena Plaza project, a 7,665 square foot affordable housing development in LA's Boyle Heights neighborhood. The project will provide 49 units of affordable housing, 32 of which will be set aside as supportive housing for individuals and families experiencing homelessness and chronic homelessness. Amenities of the project include a community kitchen that opens into a private, landscaped interior courtyard with outdoor seating, a BBQ area, and play area for children.
