MCNY Bronx
About the project
The Metropolitan College of New York (MCNY) was initially launched as the Women’s Talent Corps in 1964 to provide job trainings and placements for low income women who were facing high barriers to economic opportunity. Today, MCNY functions as a nonprofit institution of higher education, offering a variety of both undergraduate and graduate programs designed for working professionals.
The Metropolitan College of New York is headquartered in New York, with two locations located in Manhattan and the Bronx.
LISC provided MCNY with $1,860,000 in funding to assist with the debt refinancing of the development of MCNY's Bronx Campus. At 26,000 square feet, the Bronx Campus is LEED certified and hosts 17 classrooms, 3 computer labs, and a multipurpose conference space that allows the college to host large events and build neighborhood partnerships. Additionally, MCNY caters to non-traditional student demographics, with 85% of enrolled students identifying as low-income and many going to school while working full time.
